Thanks for the question! So this is a straightforward main point question. To answer this question correctly, we have to actually understand the theory to some extent. Take a look at (E), which says that the main point is that Carroll and Chen posit that our universe is one of many universes in an all-encompassing multiverse. Is THAT the main point of the passage? Is that even their original idea? No, it’s not. Take a look at the second paragraph starting on line 9, which tells us that the idea in (E) is actually “based on the suggestion of some physicists.” So it’s not the idea in (E) that’s the main argument, since it’s not even their original idea. What they add is more along the lines of (A).

D is wrong because it's more of a premise in their argument than the main point itself. Notice that where they say D (34) the next sentence then talks about the innovation made by Carroll and Chen based on this idea, so even in the passage where they are mentioning D, it's not the main point or the conclusion.
