Section 3
Question 1
on January 11, 2021
From my understanding, "communal" in Answer E is what makes it incorrect. The cattle ownership wasn't communal; the royalty controlled the cattle and gave use of them to the laborers as a sign of patronage.Emil-Kunkin on September 29, 2022
Completely agreed. The ownership of cattle was important, but it appears that individuals owned property, we have three instances of this. We know that royals did indeed give ownership to individual laborers, so those are two individuals who could potentially own cattle. We also know that cattle were exchanged in marriages, implying that ownership of cattle was something that could be transferred.
