Explanation on Answer Choices D and E

Hello, I was able to cross out A, B, and C since they weakened or just didn't make sense according to the hypothesis. However, when I am left with D and E I chose E since it sounded more fluid and fit with the passage. Even though I got it right, I am still confused on why D doesn't also strengthen the conclusion.

Hi @Branden,

Thanks for the question! So this question is a must be true.

Note that (D) tries to change the situation from what the premises give us. So it says “even if” blah blah blah. Well, we can’t tell anything about what people would think in different circumstances. So that should automatically tip you off as to (D) being wrong. (E), on the other hand, is correct, and it seems you got it. It’s actually (E) and not (D), so if that’s what you got, good job!

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
