The passage suggests that Taruskin's position commits him to which one of the following views?

D

Why is D wrong? It says in the first paragraph that high art is made by and for the social elites according to Taruskin's view?

Hi @Alexandra,

Thanks for the question! Remember, the passage is asking for a view the passage suggests Taruskin’s position commits him to. But what (D) says is actually just what Taruskin’s position is. That’s not what we want. We don’t want something that Taruskin himself has said. We want something that the passage thinks that Taruskin’s position makes him have to also say. And the passage doesn’t think (D), in fact, it likely thinks the opposite.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
