Hi @AllisonJ,

Happy to help!

To start, what is the claim that the proponents of DNA fingerprinting make? Proponents claim that it is extremely unlikely that DNA fingerprinting will result in a match based on chance alone.

Answer choice (A) is incorrect because it may actually strengthen the proponents' claim. If the genetic material that people share with all other people and other animals is removed from the procedure, then it is more likely that the match will be based on individual characteristics, thereby decreasing the chance that a match will be made based on chance alone.

Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
