Bauer dismisses critics of the city's overzealous parking enforcement on the grounds that no parking enforcement at all would be even worse. However, this argument ignores a while range of possibilities. to claim that enforcement is overzealous is not to say that there should be no enforcement whatsoever, but to say that there should be less stringent enforcement. He draws a contrast which is far too extreme. That is, he does not actually defend the status quo, but rather attacks a ridiculous straw man rather than a reasonable approach to enforce slightly less.
