Hi I am not an instructor but I will try to help. I believe the line reference for A) is “environmental interference was now taboo, . wilderness adored. “

Since wilderness is adored, we can assume that twentieth century reformers adhere to equilibrium model positively, or more strongly put, fervently. This is what A) is stating. Thus A) is correct.

Thank you. Please feel free to correct me. I hope that it helps.

In paragraph five, we see the author describing how the equilibrium model is now very popular among ecological reformers. The author states that as a result of this model, reformers think that environmental interference is "taboo" (this can be found in lines 55-56).

From paragraph one of the passage, we know that the reformers in present day currently express this message through "accusatory polemics" (lines 9-10).

From this, we can infer that the author used "ecological mystique" to underscore just how much fervor the contemporary ecological reformers have. The reformers are all in on the equilibrium model's principles. A describes this perfectly, so it's the correct answer choice.
