Could you please explain why D and E are wrong.

Thanks, I see someone also asked about D and has yet to get a response.

Hi

I am not a tutor; but here's my take on D an E.

Broadly speaking, both D and E are too extreme. The language in the stimulus does not yield for such strong inferences.

Specifically--
In D note the word "indefinitely" where in the stimulus, last sentence, stats that it "can."
And in E, note the usage of the word "any," we do not know if any (meaning all) bacteria reacts the same way; The stimulus explicitly states "certain"; it may very-well be the case that these "certain bacteria" are a subgroup from the broader group that produces hydrogen sulfide.

In sum, answers D and E are not most strongly supported, or as strongly supported as answer A, which mirrors the moderate tone of the stimulus: "can indefinitely continue."

I'm sure a tutor will correct me if I am wrong!
