C does not reflect what the passage said. The author tells us that the facts are absolutely important, but does not really tell us much about the authors' personal impressions per se.
D is a pretty good summation of the passage- that dictation diminishes the literary value and deserves more scrutiny.
While the author may agree with E, this is not the main point. The author is trying to show that the diction problem is something we must consider, not that we should generally pay more attention to these works.
