Questions 14-19 (Last Question Set)

I'm a little confused on how the pairings (2-2-1-1 and/0r 3-1-1-1) were come up with? I guess what I am trying to say is that I understand it and it makes sense, however only after it has been constructed. How would I know that this is the number set? 1-1-1-1 is obvious. It is also obvious that they are going to repeat because there are 4 people and 6 days, but can someone explain how I would be able to come up with 2-2-1-1 or 3-1-1-1 right off the top of my head? Thank you!

This really is just a matter of applying common sense. We have four people to assign across six days, and each day must be filled. There are only two ways to go about this. Either we have one person go three times, or two people go twice to have the four people go a total of six times.
