How can we distinguish generalizations from conclusions?

Hi @Jakehill,

A conclusion will always be supported by another part or parts of the argument. One test I like to use for identifying conclusions is to take the conclusion, and try to say "conclusion BECAUSE premise." Alternatively, you can phrase it as "premise, therefore conclusion." If that phrasing makes sense, you likely have identified a conclusion.

A generalization likely will not pass that test- generalizations are large, sweeping statements that are usually drawn from weak if any support.
