If Malloy and Nassar earn the same salary, at least how many of the partners must have lower salaries than Lopez?

Sequencing Game Question Number 2

I'm referencing the game about the nine law partners at a law firm. (FOX, GLASSEN, HAE, INMAN, JACOBY, KOHN, LOPEZ, MALLOY, and NASSAR). My issue is with question number two. It asks: "If Malloy and Nassar earn the same salary, at least how many of the partners must have lower salaries than Lopez?" How can Malloy and Nassar earn the same salary? There are nine separate spots. How is it even possible for Malloy and Nassar to have the same salary?

Hi Josephrocco,

We are told that there are nine partners, and then given rules about various partners who make more or less than other partners. We are never told that they all make different salaries!

We have two chians here:

K - L - N
K - I - F - M - G - J - H

Maybe both I and L make $100,000- there is nothing in our rules that tell us this is impossible. This is one case where turning off the LSAT part of your brain and bringing back some of the "real world" part can help. If you are told there are 3 people in a team, there is no reason why two couldn't have the same salary.
