Hi Rswafra,Lets see what happens if we have J in 2 and 5
_ J _ _ J _
We known that 1 and 3 must be the same type, and there are only two options, O and S
O J O _ J _
S J S _ J _
The first scenario cannot happen, since we must have a J after every O, so it would be
O J O J J _
Which violates the final rule.
Our Second scenario does not allow us to have an O, since O cannot be last (as it would need a J after it), and it also cannot be fourth, as we cannot have SO.
So, we cannot have J in 2 and 5.

Hi Emil, how does the first scenario violate the final rule? (Noguchi never performs solo one day and with orchestra the following day). I don't see how [O J O J J _ ] violates this rule.Hanfan on November 6, 2022
why can we not have S in the final spot? OJOJJS?Emil-Kunkin on November 12, 2022
Hi, sorry, I mistyped that. The latter scenario doesn't violate the rule, but it does violate the answer choice. In this scenario, J would be on 2, 4, and 5. So, it cannot be on only 2 and 5 as it would also need to be on 4.
