Hi,

The authors shows us that since radioactive elements decay, if there were no radioactive elements being created, there wouldn't be any left in the universe. However, since there are radioactive elements, there must be a source of new radioactive elements.

The point the author is trying to prove is that there are new radioactive elements being created- that is what this argument is structured to support.
