Question # 4 - Author's Main Purpose
Just wanted to receive some feedback as to why I think Answer Choices "A", "B", "C", and "D" are not the correct answer choice.
Answer Choice A: the word "criticize" is too strong a word. Rather I believe the author describes inadequacies but never gives his input on those inadequacies.
Answer Choice B: the author never contrasts two approaches. There's really only one approach discussed.
Answer Choice C: an approach is spoken about but the author doesn't propose it himself.
Answer Choice D: there is no support throughout the passage that the author is praising a solution. I believe this answer choice is simply too strong.
Anyone's thoughts?

For A, I think the criticism is of the way we got into the problem in the first place, rather than of efforts to solve it. I agree with you for B and C, as well as for D, but I would also note that the solution is not definitive.
