Which one of the following is most analogous to the main point of passage B?

Why is B correct and D incorrect?

I thought the absorb and adapt ideas from other cultures (i.e. ecosystems adjusting to new plants from other ecosystems) was analogous to the main point, whereas alterations not always lamentable was less analogous (the section seems to only briefly mention some lamentable aspects of exotic species and focus on the positives). I am assuming the key part that makes D incorrect is the "can ONLY" benefit and is ignoring only components? Can someone help me parse out the goods and the bads of the these two answer options?

Hi Rswafra,

I think the best place to start here is by summing up the main point of B.

I would probably describe it (and there are many other, probably better ways to word this) as "Invasive species are not necessarily a bad thing for ecosystems, and the tendance to view them as such stems from how invasions change the way humans relate to those ecosystems, rather than from the impact on the ecosystems themselves.

Both B and D relate to the idea of taking something new in from outside, and both counter the idea that this is an inherently bad thing. However, I think you are spot on about the "only benefit."

The passage introduces several cases in which ecosystems do not benefit from invasions, notably at line 58.
