This is probably one of the hardest principle questions I encountered

I get the stimulus, but none of the answer choices illustrated the principle, in my opinion.

Hi, in the original argument, the author makes a choice on the grounds that they are unsure if it is necessary, but would rather err on the side of caution. This is what happens in A as well.
