The Correct Answer

I thought this answer might have been wrong because how do we know that the experts cost more to society than the new printing? That is why I didn't choose it, i was hung up on the other ones and I knew I was going to get it wrong, but I ruled this out because I didn't think there was a way to compare if the experts or if the new printing cost more to society.

Hi, you're right that we do not know the relative costs, however, this is not necessarily a problem. A suggests that the true costs of the expert option is higher than just the cost of getting the experts to examine currency. Since the one downside to the ink option is that it is more expensive, A shows that the potential downside of the ink option is not as great, since the alternative is actually costlier than we had previously believed. This strengthens the idea we should use ink, even if it we don't know exactly which one is costlier.
