Hi, we are allowed to do this when the question asks "which of the following, IF TRUE, would XYZ" which includes strengthen, weaken, sufficient assumption, necessary assumption, paradox, and a few other questions. Generally, it's the "if true" that tells us the answer choices are new info that would do something (eg weaken or strengthen) to an argument.
