Hi, for a passage like this the main point might not be directly stated in a few lines, and I would recommend more of a process of elimination approach in the answer choices.
We can eliminate A because the author never told us that he was trying to recreate elements of AbEx art.
E also goes beyond the passage, I think in terms of calling his works sophisticated. If anything, the author noted a sense of (intentional) naïvety.
B, however, seems like a strong summation of the passage. While I don't think there's any one line it paraphrased, I can't poke any holes in it either.
