B vs E

Hello I toggled between answer choices B & E ultimately choosing B. Can you please explain the difference between the two and why E is the better choice? Thank you!

In the second paragraph, the author tells us that the evidence in favor of the first model is from ethnography, and that while the ethnographic evidence can be used to support the first theory, it may also suggest a different, non economic theory.

This is a perfect match for B: the evidence is being used to support one theory, but could also actually support a second competing theory.

There are two issues with E. First, the second paragraph is taking about the same body of evidence being used to support both theories. E talks about different evidence supporting the second theory. Second, I don't necessarily see where the circumstantial element comes in but this is far less important: the fact that there is only one body of evidence in the passage knocks out E.
