Reading Comp Strategy

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew why we read the passage three times. What purpose does each time serve?

The first time you look for the main point, second time you look how each paragraph is structed in regard to the main point, and last time you look for any words that indicate the author's attitude or shows the author's opinion.

This is the gist of the beginner reading method, but I would note, if you find yourself understanding passages and getting answers right on one read, stick to that!
