C is basically a restatement of lines 34-40: where we're told that passage studies tend to be those told to an intermediary rather than those written by the subject themselves.

E isn't supported by the passage. While the passage does note that passage studies may be more biased towards the filter of the intermediary, this would be a split between the subjects and the ethnographers who document them, not between ethnographers and historians.
