I got this right, more so because of my overall knowledge of the questions, but I can't explain why A is right and C is wrong which were the two I was between.

The passage tells us that C may help with connective tissues; and that thus some Drs think we can use vitamin C to treat some illnesses.

The passage more or less supports the idea that there must be some connection between such illnesses and connective tissues. A is one possible way, if the diseases impact tissues, then helping those tissues can treat a symptom of the disease. Note that this didn't really require any assumptions on our end.

C however suggests a very narrow causal pathway that is not really related to the passage. It tells us that the effect of vitamin C may allow us to absorb even more vitamins. This doesn't really tell us that this would be useful in fighting diseases, we would then have to add in our own assumption that the diseases in question can be fought using vitamins, which isn't supported by the passage.
