Answer choice (C) is that it is not what the passage sets out to be its main point. As explained in the previous thread, the point of the passage is to explain that even though the traditional sources of evidence about ancient history were of little help to gaining more knowledge about the history of crafts practiced by women in ancient times, new ways of approaching and looking at archaeology has enabled researchers more info to be able to deduce a lot about the history of textiles and those who created them. Being able to reproduce textiles using ancient methods and techniques was given to us as an exampled of the new methods and approaches researchers are using to gain more knowledge about these ancient crafts. The passage's main point is also not about gaining more information on textile production methods used by women in the ancient world. It is about being able to gain more information on crafts practiced by women in ancient times, including the production of textiles.Make sure to look over the explanation in the previous thread as well.
Hope that clears it up! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Why is D incorrect?marioviolanap on February 20, 2020
I am struggling to understand why D could not be an answer that matches what you have outlined to be relevant in picking the correct answer. Could you explain?Pnworrall@comcast.net on November 19, 2021
From the previous thread:Hello @filozinni,
Answer choice D is appealing because it does contain most of the important elements from the passage. Textile production by women, changes in archaeology, replicating techniques, etc. However, make sure that you pay attention to the operative verb, "spurred." Did research into textiles cause the changes in archaeology? There is nothing to support that.
The improvements in archaeology are introduced at the start of the second paragraph, and the author never says this was a result of textile study. When an answer choice includes a cause and effect relationship, make sure that it is supported by the text.

D is too broad, as the passage was just about how researching now know more information about ancient textiles. It wasn't about sweeping changes to the whole field of archaeology, so we can get rid of D.
