Example 3

I am confused as to why B is not a proper answer choice. If plesiosaurs are swimming reptiles that lived during the Cretaceous period, wouldn't it be inaccurate based on the passage that they did not inhabit the southern half of the region which was entirely water?

@tarapimentel remember, we are looking for an answer choice that cannot be true.

The problem with (B) is that is definitely possible.

All we know is that plesiosaurs were swimming reptiles that lived during the Cretaceous period exclusively.

While it is definitely true that plesiosaurs could have inhabited the southern half of a certain region of earth that was covered entirely by water, they could have just as easily lived somewhere else that had also water.

Notice that nothing in the passage states that the southern half of a certain region of earth that was covered entirely by water is the ONLY region with water during this period.

Therefore, (B) is possible.

Hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Question #3:
The stimulus contains "thus" - does this not make it an argument?
