Maria says that popular music is bad because it doesn't accurately represent reality.

Theo disagrees with Maria, explaining that popular music is not supposed to reflect reality.

Thus, Theo disagrees with Maria that popular music is bad because it doesn't accurately represent reality.

Answer choice (D) states: "art need not represent reality accurately to be good art." This is exactly the point of disagreement between Maria and Theo. Maria would agree with this, whereas Theo would disagree with this.

Hope that clears things up! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I thought their conclusions were about whether pop music made good art. I'm confused about how that is not their point of disagreement.

@knoxygirl where do you see an answer choice that says, "pop music made good art?"

Notice that (D) satisfies the "Yes/No" test for Point at Issue questions:

Maria: No

Theo: Yes

Hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
