There are two possibilities here: either J is 1st and 6th or H is 1st and 6th. However, in the scenario with J 1st and 6th, there is no place for our HJ block from rule number 3 (i.e. exactly once Sukanya receives a message from J on the day after receiving one from H).

Therefore, the only possible scenario is H 1st and 6th, which results in the following scenario:

H J L J L H

You will notice that in this scenario, which is the only possible scenario if there are six messages and L is fifth, the fourth message is from Jerome, so (D) must be true.
