Question 8
Naz on July 23, 2013
The criteria for the correct answer of a main point question are: (1) it is the conclusion (2) it must be true. All the author is saying here is that there is little evidence to support the belief that birds have an innate homing sense. The main point of the passage is about the birds, and the support given is the studies that tested the birds. Therefore, answer choice (B) is the main point, whereas answer choice (C) is the premise. Look at the clause discussing the studies. We have an indicator word of "since." "Since" leads you to the reason behind something, i.e. a premise rather than a conclusion. Remember that the conclusion will not support any other statement. Therefore, answer choice (B) is the correct answer.
