One Day Away: Let The Relaxing Begin!

Okay you December LSAT prep friends, we’re at the day before your exam. You’ve worked hard to get here. You’ve been slaving over timed section after section for months. You’ve dreamed of Logical Reasoning questions and Logic Games patterns night after night. You’ve slowly seen that three-digit LSAT score rise and rise. You are ready. I highly encourage you not to prep today. If you feel like your head will explode without any prep, then stop any studying after 1:00pm. Just use the rest of the day to relax. Get your “LSAT-go-bag” ready for tomorrow. Make sure you have all the required items in there, and that you have laid your clothes out ready to go. Don’t stress about anything tomorrow. For the rest of the day, just relax and hang out with your loved ones. Watch a movie, sleep, go on a run, and/or go Christmas light viewing. On the day before my exam I went to Disneyland with my friends. It was a great way to de-stress and have fun (note: Disneyland is lovely in December. It snows and you’ll see The Nightmare Before Christmas characters wandering about).

Seeing as I’m hoping you’ve already stopped studying for the day, I’m going to further your distractions and relaxation by providing you with a list of silly trivia and facts that I find quite interesting. Stop studying. Put down that pencil. Turn off your logic-mind till tomorrow, and chill. Hope you enjoy this silly list of amazing facts meant solely to distract and calm your mind.

  1. In the 1980s, Pablo Escobar's Medellin Cartel was spending $2,500 a month on rubber bands just to hold all their cash.
  2. M&M’s actually stand for “Mars & Murrie’s,” the last names of the candy’s founders.
  3. At Fatburger, you can order a "Hypocrite"—a veggie burger topped with crispy strips of bacon.
  4. Only female mosquitos will bite you.
  5. "Jay" used to be slang for "foolish person." So when a pedestrian ignored street signs, he was referred to as a "jaywalker."
  6. In 1907, an ad campaign for Kellogg's Corn Flakes offered a free box of cereal to any woman who would wink at her grocer.
  7. Male students at Brigham Young University need a doctor's note to grow a beard.
  8. Lyme disease is named after the town of Lyme, Connecticut, where several cases were identified in 1975.
  9. The German word kummerspeck means excess weight gained from emotional overeating. Literally, grief bacon.
  10. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis edited Michael Jackson’s 1988 autobiography, Moonwalk.

Interesting, right? Okay, I hope I’ve fueled the start of your unproductive, fun, relaxing, wondrous day before your December exam.

Happy Relaxing! Wishing you nothing but the best of luck tomorrow (or Monday)!
