To become a lawyer in Oklahoma, one must hold a degree from an accredited four-year university, make a passing score on the LSAT exam and complete an accredited law school program, and finally, complete the BAR exam with a passing score.
The Oklahoma Bar Exam is a two-day exam that differs drastically from most of the other state Bar exams. The first day involves 16 essay questions picked by the Oklahoma Board of Examiners. This is referred to as the OEE or Oklahoma Essay Exam. Test-takers will complete eight essay questions in the morning and eight essay questions in the evening. On day 2, the applicants will complete a standard Multistate Bar Exam or MBE. This is a 200 question multiple-choice test.
The Oklahoma Bar Exam weights the test much differently than other states, so pay careful attention to this next part.
The MBE and essay scores are all taken and then averaged to see if a score of at least a 75% was achieved. For the essay section, at least 1200 points is acceptable as a passing score. On the MBE a scaled score of at least 135/200 is also considered passing. With these two scores combined, you need around a 2400 to pass the Oklahoma State Bar Exam. However, you aren?t required to score exactly 75% on both sections. Therefore, an applicant can get under 75% on one section, and over 75% on the other section and still have a passing score overall.
