Moving on to Question 7, Which one of the
following cannot be true?
Let's take a look here at (A), Harvest
is the last film shown on each day of the
festival. Well, could that be true Well,
on Thursday it must be true, because Harvest
is the last film that is going to be shown
on Thursday. It must be on Thursday, and no
film can be shown after it. Notice also on
Saturday we could have Harvest be the last
film shown on Saturday. But the problem with
(A) is that Harvest cannot be the last film
shown on Friday, because we need either G
or L based on condition two, and no film can
be shown after G or L on that day. Therefore
(A) cannot be true, and (A) would be the correct
What about (B), (C), (D), and (E) Well, I'm
going to draw a quick hypothetical here that
will show you that every other answer choice
here is valid.
Again, I'm going to max out, so I'm going
to place three films on Thursday. Again, we
know Harvest must be the last film placed
on Thursday, and then we'll have G and L.
It doesn't really matter the order of them
on Thursday. Then I know I'm going to have
G or L on Friday as the last film. I'm going
to have G or H on Saturday as the last film.
Now I'm going to place H on Friday and L on
Saturday, because again, one of G or L is
in on Friday. The other would be out. Similarly,
on Saturday, one of G or H is in. The other
would be out. Now, using this hypothetical,
which is valid, notice we have each film one
time. No film is shown twice on the same day.
We have H on Thursday, no film after it. We
have G or L on Friday, no film after it. We
have G or H on Saturday, no film after it.
This is a valid scenario.
You notice (B), Limelight is shown on each
day of the festival. Yeah, we could have
Limelight on Thursday, Limelight on Friday,
and Limelight on Saturday, so (B) is out.
(C), Greed is shown second on each day
of the festival. Again, you notice that
is possible. We could have Greed second on
each day of the festival, so (C) could be
true, and (C) would be eliminated.
(D), A different film is shown first on
each day of the festival. Again, you notice
that is possible. I could go G on Thursday,
H on Friday, L on Saturday, so again, (D)
could be true, cannot be the correct answer.
Then (E), A different film is shown last
on each day of the festival. Again, you
notice we could have H, we could have L, and
we could have G, so again (E) could be true,
and E would be eliminated.
