Question 8, If Limelight is never shown again during the festival once Greed is shown,

then which one of the following is the maximum number of film showings that could occur during

the festival?

So we're saying that if we show Greed, we can't show Limelight after that, and then

asking what is the maximum number of films that can be shown. Well you'll notice, looking

at Saturday first, if I was going to maximize Saturday I would have two films, one of which

is definitely going to be L, because only one of G or H can be in.

Now, I'm going to have G show up last on Saturday because, again, that's where I'm going to

have G show up. If I place G anywhere else on Thursday or Friday I couldn't have L show

up on Saturday.

Because I'm maximizing, I'm going to keep G last on Saturday. Now, instead of having

G last on Friday I'm going to use L. Then, since I'm maximizing, I know H is my only

other possibility. Then on Thursday, while I could have technically all three films,

H, L, and G, I can't place G because then I wouldn't be able to place L again so I'm

going to go with L and H.

What will the maximum number of films that could be shown during the festival? Well,

the correct answer would be (D) . . . six.
